Disney styled Easter Eggs (Cascarones)

 

 I love Easter! I love that its spring! I love the colors, the decorations, the celebrations! Who doesn't love an egg hunt?! We have a fun tradition with egg hunts in our family!! I had never heard of them until I met my husband but they are becoming quite popular now. Cascarones, or confetti eggs!! This year we made Mickey ones!!!

   Trick is when you use your eggs for cooking you break off just the top very carefully. Poor the egg out and rinse the shell. You save it!! We are bad at this! We don't eat a ton of eggs and often I am too lazy or forget to be careful with the eggs! Every year I tell myself I'll be better and every year come Easter I only have like 2 cartons!! This is where I cheat! I have found pre made Cascarones in stores like walmart and kmart. This year I snagged me some at Kmart!! Yes!! Because like every year, I only had 2 cartons saved!

   The eggs I did save we decided to paint this year instead of dye. Last year we used koolaide dye and that was fun and smelt nice too! I picked up some toll paint and brushes at walmart. I laid down a plastic table cloth because I knew things were going to get messy and they did!

   After we painted and they had dried we filled them with confetti. We made our own with hole punches and tinsel but you can buy it and its a lot easier!! The you take glue around the opening and put tissue paper or crepe paper streamers work too!

   After they were completely dry I used my bigger hole punch to cut out black ears and hot glued them to the eggs! I just LOVE how they turned out!!!



    Here are some past years at Easter. Everyone scrambles to get as many of these eggs as they possibly can!! Even the adults!! Then you run around and crack them on each other, gently. It is so much fun!!

When my husband was growing up he lived on 7 acres of land in Texas with all his extended family on his Dads side. He claims his grandma would have refrigerator boxes full of eggs saved through the year!! He also claims his uncles would get mean and fill the eggs with flour, honey, ketchup, real eggs, all sorts of mean things! Not us though! We play nice! How ever last year 3 eggs were filled with flour and it just so happened that Daddy, Grandpa and Uncle got them!! It was pretty funny!!

Super fun tradition! Everyone looks forward to it! We even do it on my side now too!! Its seriously so much fun and not that hard to do. You can even cheat like me and buy some!! Happy Easter!!
